People seem to hate her because she was a “useless” and “pointless” character, and all she ever did was cry her eyes out during her sixth year. To me, it seems like they only hate her because she’s a normal teenage girl who is extremely emotional and experiences the raging hormones every teenager experiences. Think about it: How many of you were emotional throughout middle school and high school? How many times did you end up crying because your crush didn’t like you back or because you were receiving an overwhelming amount of homework at school? I know I cried a few times because of the stress I got from school. Look at what Cho Chang was crying about. The death of her boyfriend. The mixed feelings she had for Harry (and I’m not just talking about Cedric versus Harry but also, whether or not she should believe Harry about Voldemort and that whole deal). The death of her boyfriend. Probably a bunch of other shit she got from her parents and I bet you anything, she was also crying about the stress she got from school. Oh, did I mention she was crying over her DEAD BOYFRIEND? Get a grip, you guys. She cried about normal things and she had every right to.

And to say she was pointless character is also ridiculous. Granted, she wasn’t a major character nor was she one of the stronger female characters like Hermione or Luna. But you know what she was? She was Harry’s first shot at kissing, at relationships, at the whole romance deal. To me, she made Harry’s life a bit more like a normal teenager’s life. No, she’s not my favorite character but she’s someone I could never hate. I feel bad for her all the time because of what she had to go through and I feel even more bad because of the people who find it necessary to hate her and make fun of her for being emotional, for being HUMAN. I don’t mind if you don’t like her but some people just go a little far with the hate and it’s really quite bothersome and uncalled for.
